BMW ConnectedDrive Driver Assistance systems in the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo.

LANE DEPARTURE AND LANE CHANGE WARNING.
Lane Change Warning including a camera-based collision alert registers road markings at a distance of 50 metres and at speeds of approximately 70 km/h and above.
If your vehicle seems to be about to veer out of its lane unintentionally, you'll be warned via slight vibrations on the steering wheel. If you've activated the indicators beforehand, i.e. if the lane change is intentional, then this warning is not issued. The camera-based collision alert recognises vehicles ahead and warns you when the distance between you and them is too short or when a danger of collision arises.
If another vehicle is in your blind spot and intends to change lanes, Lane Change Warning indicates this by recognising the flashing indicators. This function also warns you of a vehicle approaching at high speed in the overtaking lane. Further, when the distance at the side is too short or when there is a danger of collision, you are warned via a vibrating steering wheel and an optical signal in the exterior mirror cap.
CAMERA SYSTEMS.
Have a clear view of the area around your vehicle when manoeuvring into parking spaces and at road exits with Park Distance Control, Surround View and Rear View Camera.
Park Distance Control (PDC) at the front and rear allows you to park safely and comfortably thanks to optical and acoustic signals.
Surround View shows your vehicle in the Control Display with the aid of a projection from above. The accompanying Side View system guarantees a better overview when visibility is poor at road exits.
The Rear View Camera provides welcome support when you are reversing into parking spaces at speeds of less than 20 km/h.
PARK ASSIST.
The Park Assist helps you to manoeuvre into parking spaces parallel to the direction of travel. The system can also measure the size of the parking space in passing (at speeds below 35 km/h).
Once a suitable parking space has been found, the Park Assist takes care of steering, so that all you have to do is press the accelerator and brake pedals. Instructions appear on the Control Display and are accompanied by acoustic signals. This makes parking more relaxed and safer at all times.
ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH STOP & GO.
Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function including radar-based collision warning with braking function offers increased comfort and even greater active safety on busy roads.
The system permanently scans the distance between you and the vehicles ahead and automatically maintains a preselected distance. Once the road ahead is clear, the system accelerates your vehicle to the desired speed. In critical situations, the radar-based collision warning with braking function offers you even higher levels of safety.
BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY.
All information in your field of vision.
The full colour BMW Head-Up Display projects relevant information directly into your field of vision, thus enabling you to pay full attention to what's happening on the road ahead.
Depending on the equipment fitted in your vehicle, this information consists not only of High-Guiding messages from the navigation system, but also Speed Limit Info data, Check Control messages and Lane Departure Warning status displays.
Ultra-brilliant resolution.
The symbols projected onto your windscreen appear in ultra brilliant resolution. Graphics make full use of the entire colour spectrum, enabling a particularly realistic depiction of traffic symbols. The display is in an ergonomically advantageous position on the windscreen, which you can then adjust to suit your personal needs without being distracted from events on the road ahead.
The intensity of the projection adapts automatically according to how light it is outside; there is also a night and daytime display. Brightness can be configured using the iDrive menu. You can also select which information should be shown, in addition to the speed display and the warnings from the driver-assist systems.
SPEED LIMIT INFO INCL. NO-OVERTAKING INDICATOR.
Stay on the safe side. Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking display keeps you informed of the maximum permissible speed as well as overtaking bans.
A special camera monitors relevant traffic signs. Via a control device, this information is processed together with data from the navigation system. As other components in the vehicle, such as the rain sensor, can also be used, the system can also inform you of variable speed limits in line with your current driving situation. For example, in wet weather or temporary restrictions.
ACTIVE PROTECTION.
The Active Protection safety package forms part of BMW ConnectedDrive. This system is activated shortly after the vehicle sets off and has reached a speed above 18 km/h.
If a critical driving situation (pre-crash situation) arises, the front seat belts are tightened and the side windows and sunroof (if fitted) are closed. Active Protection detects the threat of a collision via the front camera or front radar, triggered by an emergency stop or by your vehicle showing strong signs of understeering or oversteering.
If a crash is unavoidable, the system applies the brakes automatically without you needing to react. At a maximum stopping speed of 5 m/s, your vehicle is brought to a standstill and the brakes remain blocked for 1.5 seconds. This reduces or completely rules out the probability of secondary collisions.
To prevent hazards from arising in the first place, the Attentiveness assist monitors your driving behaviour for symptoms of fatigue. The system analyses your steering behaviour and reacts to any irregularities, with a recommendation to take a break appearing in the Control Display.
